Learn about the history of Cross Keys Baptist Church

Up until 1954, there were no missionary Baptist churches in Williamson County.  Cross Keys was originally an old building at the foot of Pull Tight Hill in College Grove.  An associational missionary, Brother Harold Gregory, came out to host a Tent Revival in July of 1954.

On July 31, Earl and Violet Newcomb of Walker Memorial Baptist Church, along with members of Inglewood Baptist Church (JB Caldwell, Dennis Tosh, Harold Stephens, Ray Garrett, Harold Doris, Ben Bradley, and Harvey LeFolette) hatched a plan to build the current church at Cross Keys.  By September 1955 construction had begun.

Albert Hartley was the first person saved, and the first funeral was held for Henrietta Clark.  Cross Keys has had 13 pastors in its 66 year history (Harold Stephens, Ed Turns, Brother Burkhart, James Coates, Ralph Palmer, Oscar Nash, Roy Porter, Ben Walker, George Webb, John House, Ryan Austin, Matthew Orman and David Cherry.)
